And The Oscar Goes To.....

In about 45 minutes, the Red Carpet entrances to the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles will begin.  And two hours after that, the 81st Academy Awards celebration will begin.

As has been tradition on this blog, The Shadow will post his predictions in the major categories of the Academy Awards.  After the ceremony ends, we will post the winners and our analysis of the event.

Our predictions for 2009 are:

• Best Picture -- Slumdog Millionaire
• Best Director -- Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire)
• Best Actor -- Sean Penn (Milk)
• Best Actress -- Kate Winslet (The Reader)
• Best Supporting Actor -- Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight)
• Best Supporting Actress -- Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona)
• Best Original Screenplay -- Dustin Lance Black (Milk)
• Best Adapted Screenplay (Slumdog Millionaire)
• Best Animated Feature -- WALL-E
• Best Cinematography -- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
• Best Original Score -- Alexandre Desplat (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button)
• Best Original Song -- "Down to Earth" (WALL-E)
