Open Studios Begins in San Francisco

Yes folks, it has finally arrived -- the largest Open Studios event in the United States.

For those of you unfamiliar with what Open Studios is -- it is just that. Artists throughout the City of San Francisco will be opening their homes and studios to let you visit, view and, hopefully, buy art. For the next four weekends you will be able to do this in various parts of the city.

Yes, this is very organized. You can check out http://www.artspan.org for maps and times of opening.

For those of you who are still unsure of what to expect -- you can view an interview with Open Studio's Executive Director Therese Martin and local artist Kellyann Gilson-Lyman -- who is a good friend of The Shadow and a wonderful artist in her own right -- that took place last Tuesday, October 2. The two ladies were interviewed on "View From the Bay," a locally produced show from the San Francisco ABC affiliate KGO-TV. You can view the interview in its entirety here. You will also find info on this website as to what San Francisco neighborhoods will be involved in Open Studios that week.

The Shadow will be out and about during the month and we will try to bring you as much as we can -- but be sure to take advantage of this good October weather and view some art and support local artists.
