The Shadow Makes Another Appeal for Jill Carroll

Within the past couple of days, Kuwaiti television broadcast another appeal from kidnapped American journalist Jill Carroll.

In her latest appearance, Ms. Carroll stated that a "final deadline" had been established for the United States to release all Iraqi female prisoners. The United States, as a goodwill gesture, released some of the prisoners earlier this month.

According to Ms. Carroll, the final deadline is February 26, 2005.

The Shadow again calls for Ms. Carroll's immediate and unconditional release. He has stated in several posts on this blog that Ms. Carroll should not be a bargaining chip in these negotiations.

But, absent that, there is only one other solution. The Shadow now calls for the United States to release the final female prisoners in its custody in Iraq. Only then can this innocent woman's life be spared.

The Shadow will continue monitoring this situation.
