See Voodoo Cabaret This Thursday!!

From time to time, The Shadow has received inquiries about the band Voodoo Cabaret since he first brought them up last year.

The Shadow has recently learned that Voodoo Cabaret will be in concert this Thrusday, May 31, 2006 in San Francisco. The announcement that The Shadow received is below:

The Shadow Opens Mission Open Studios

Tonight, at the invitation of artist Ann Simms, The Shadow visited the opening receptions of the Mission Open Studios. Over 300 artists are showing at this Open Studios!!

The Mission Open Studios is taking place in the following art galleries this weekend:

This exhibit is very promising. Along with The Shadow's ally Anne Simms, The Shadow met with several artists at several venues during the opening reception tonight. You will be very pleased with the range of arty and the talent of the artists who have opened up their studios for you.

The Mission Open Studios will continue Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13 from 1100 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Shadow will revisit the Gallerys on Sunday -- do look for him there!!

The Shadow Visits Aspect Gallery

The Shadow, at the invitation of artist Kellyann Gilson Lyman, made a visit to Aspect Gallery to view a new group show that Kellyann was participating in.

This was The Shadow's first visit to this gallery. When The Shadow arrived, he was welcomed warmly and invited by many of the artists to take pictures of their works. The gallery's owner, Lon Richter, was also very welcoming and accomodating.

In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, there was plenty of wine, cheese, chips and salsa. Music was also provided by a three piece band of musicians playing guitar, banjo, and harmonica.

This exhibit will be showing through the end of June 2007. Lon also informed The Shadow that he is offering 15% off for framing for any piece bought during the current exhibit. You can go to their website for more information.

Aspect Gallery is located at 731 Polk Street (between Ellis and Eddy) in San Francisco -- two blocks from San Francisco City Hall. Regular hours are Monday - Saturday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Fired, Forged and Fabricated

The Shadow made his monthly visit to the ARTWorkSF Gallery on May 3 to see their latest exhibit "Fired, Forged and Fabricated".

Usually when The Shadow visits the ARTWorkSF Gallery, the walls are filled with paintings with sculptures taking less than 10% of the exhibit. This time, the tables were turned and it worked very well.

This exhibit will be at the ARTWorkSF Gallery, 49 Geary Street, Suite 215, through May 12, 2007. As always, all works showing at the exhibit are available for sale or rent. A portion of proceeds from sales also benefit the San Francisco Artists Resource Center.

The Shadow Attends SOMA Open Studios

Open Studio Season has begun in the San Francisco Bay Area!

On April 27, 2007, The Shadow visited the studios of the SOMA Artists Studios for their open studios reception. (For those of you outside the Bay Area, SOMA stands for South of Market Street). The Shadow attended the Open Studios at the invitation of artist Mark Harris.

This open studios event allowed The Shadow to preview new art and meet new artists in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was a well attended event with tons of wine and food and tons more artwork for sale.

Unfortunately, this event has now ended but they will hold another open studio event in October. Many of the artists who were showing at the event has given The Shadow their contact information and you will find their websites listed under the Art Gallerys and Artists Link on the main page of this blog.
