The Shadow Visits Another Art Opening

The past Friday, The Shadow was one of many people in the office of San Francisco District 5 Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi as he hosted his monthly art reception.

The featured artists at this exhibit were Amy Auerbach and Ethel Mays.

Amy is showing photography from the series Vanishing Waterfront and Other Destinations, a collection of dream-like toned gelatin silver prints. Ethel will exhibit Waterwork, a series of photographic images which addresses the idea of public water compositions as abstract art.

The Shadow Endorses Kimberly Knox for San Francisco Board of Education

San Francisco voters will be asked to select three members of its Board of Education. There are currently 15 people on the ballot. The Shadow would like to highlight one of the candidates.

The Shadow has come to know Kimberly "Kim" Knox for the past several months. It is his belief that Kim will be a welcome addition to the San Francisco Board of Education.

The Shadow with Candidate Kim Knox

The following is from Kim's Candidate statement:

An education activist for 20 years, I mentored 82 SFUSD high school students and was chosen "Mentor of the Year." I created SF's High School Environmental Summit and co-founded "Sun, Wind and Water Day." My books on teaching students about science have been distributed through North America.

Kim has impressed The Shadow that she will work hard on the board. It is our belief that Kim Knox should be elected to the San Francisco Board of Education.

Disclaimer: Neither Kim Knox nor her campaign have paid or otherwise influenced this blog posting. These are the personal opinions of The Shadow only.

The Upcoming Election Season

It is the intent of The Shadow to weed out evil in its many forms. One of the ways of going this is to encourage good government.

Within the coming days, The Shadow -- a resident of San Francisco -- will begin offering endorsements and recommendations for California voters for the upcoming election.

It should be noted that all endorsements and recommendations that The Shadow will make here are not paid for nor otherwise influenced by the candidates. These are The Shadow's personal recommendations.

The Shadow Returns After A Brief Absence

Many of you have wondered what has happened to this blog and The Shadow in the past month.

Well The Shadow is back -- although not at 100%.

The Shadow has been dealing with personal and health problem since this blog's last entry. But no more -- The Shadow is back and ready to inform and rid this world of the evil that lurks in the hearts of men.

For starters, The Shadow will finally post pictures from two of ARTWorkSF's biggest exhibits -- The Cafe Show and One Night Stand. The Shadow is doing this to fulfill a promise to ARTWorkSF's Marketing Director that the pictures would be posted on this site.

Along with a large space with lots of erotic artwork (and spanking demonstrations), were the following:

  • Poetry by Maya
  • Music by DJ Kgwest
  • Erotic love poems by Ms. Betsie L'Roux
  • Music by The Culprits, performing Electro-Orchestral-Jazz-Classical voices and harmonies over big, fat beats.
  • Poetry and songs by Paradise

There was probably more to see in one night than most people could stand. There were paint wrestling performances (yes The Shadow has a photo of it), nude models, Japanese Rope Bondage, and Romantic Astrology readings.

It would be safe to say that all in attendance had a great time. You can probably tell that there are not many pictures posted to this entry -- that is due to the nature of the pictures.

More photos from the show are available here.

This is one show that will definitely take place next year -- hopefully we will see you there!

The Shadow at the Cafe Show

For two weeks in August, The Shadow had the opportunity to attend ARTWorkSF's Annual Cafe Show.

This show was more than just a art exhibit. It also included live performances and a silent auction.

The theater opened up into the gallery for live performances with special appearance byVOODOO CABARET, The Krelkins, Christina Simpson, and Svetiana Jovanovic.

The show is a benefit for SOMARTS -- a hugh artist showcase in the South of Market area of San Francisco. Both the opening and closing night parties were the place to be.
